“Competence Region Renewable Energies and Sustainable Technologies”

The competitiveness of a region in the global environment is essentially determined by production costs and the quality of goods and services produced. Even in regions with high wage levels by international standards, it is possible to produce and sell products at competitive prices. The necessary formula for this is: more efficient, more effective, and more intelligent. Concerning the parameter “energy,” optimization measures are required in terms of energy production (renewable energies, synergistic system integration), energy storage (storage systems, fuel cells, etc.), energy distribution (smart grids), and energy usage (smart production, smart metering – feedback, smart homes).

The goals are:

1. Identification of Research Areas: Establishing a foundational basis for the creation of an energy research center.

2. Designing the Concept for the Energy Research Center: Creating an innovative transregional space with partnerships and cooperation between both regions, and appointing a legal entity to carry out research projects.

3. Developing a Roadmap: Creating a timeline for negotiations to acquire and initiate the first research projects (pilot project) in the defined research areas.
